Racehorse ownership is an exhilarating experience that is unrivalled by any other. The highs and lows are aplenty in terms of the performance of your racehorse. The overall experience of the day, the expectation in the lead up and the feeling when everything goes to plan and you end up in the winners room is something that you will remember for life.
By one of the hottest stallion in the country Pierro after an astonishing 2nd season at stud were he took all before taking out the 2nd season stallion honours as well as finishing in the Top 10 General Sires list despite having only 2 racing crops. This colt was one that got under everyone’s guard and we purchased him at a 1/3 of what we valued him at.
Steel Pier’s mother was an $800,000 yearling who had only 2 starts before injury finished her racing career. On her second start she blew the field away to win her maiden and looked to have very good ability. This colt is not built in the mode of a Pierro and will look to get to the track later in his 2-y-old year.
NIC NAT NUI
We had to have this colt and it seemed others did as well with 3 parties in a bidding war over securing him. He is a big colt, typical of the best of AL MAHER’S progeny. He moves outstanding and looks effortless when galloping. He will not be an early 2yo but more so a horse that will make the track as a mid to late 2yo before showing his best as a 3yo and beyond.
The progeny train on and get over distance as a rule of thumb and you can see this colt doing the same. He is trained by Tony Gollan at Eagle Farm and as the distances step out, the better you feel this fellow will acquit himself.
Olympic Glory was an outstanding racehorse who produced freakish performances on the track in recording his four Group 1 victories.
At this stage of his stallion career in Australia he has proven to be disappointing. The more you see his progeny develop however they are looking to be 3-y-old types.
Absolute Faith produced at the highest level on the racetrack being Group 1,2 and 3 placed. She is by the outstanding stallion Not A Single Doubt who will become a leading broodmare sire in years to come. If this filly can produce on the track she will hold good residual value.
It is definitely a real buyers market at the moment. The market is off up to 50-60% in some sections of the market and the time to buy to race is here right now. Prizemoney is back to the same levels in all states except Qld which means that the returns through prizemoney remain right up there with the best in the world.
If you held your powder dry at Friday’s Easter 2 sale and let yearlings you like pass in there was extremely good value to be found. That was definitely the case with the Sebring filly we purchased. The upgrade potential alone means she is exceptional value. She is a filly who we will not rush and with that, she is more likely to show her best as a 3-year-old and beyond.
The filly is BOBS eligible. The filly represents exceptional value being a Full Blood sister to outstanding Group 1 Hong Kong winner Lucky Bubbles. Her full sister sold at last years Magic Millions sale for $405,000 and her mother was a good sort as well selling for $105,000 as a yearling.
This filly has a Redoute’s Choice weanling half-sister on the ground that will go to sale next year. The second dam Bubble Below has 2 full sisters to run and an I Am invincible weanling colt to go to sale next year. The upgrade potential is real and we can hopefully just sit back and watch this family upgrade in the next year or so.
At the price, she is an exceptional purchase and by giving her time we will give her the best chance of achieving her ultimate ability.
Agent Ninety Nine
She was a filly whom we liked upon inspection at the farm and on subsequent viewings at the sales. In fact, it was bloodstock guru John Foote who really liked this filly. That is a fair advertisement for the filly.
The filly has real scope and a stout pedigree to go with it. Smart Missile is going as good as any stallion in the country whilst the female is as full of black type as you will see in any pedigree.
On pedigree, it looks like she will not go early but more like Smart Missile’s Group 1 winner last year, Maid of Heaven will produce when overground.
The filly was secured for $60,000 +GST which was a bargain buy at this sale. She will be trained by the best in Queensland, Tony Gollan.
She is paid up for the Magic Millions race series ($4950) which features the outstanding $10 million race day showcase on the Gold Coast we all love.
This filly is retained to race by BRT Bloodstock & partners in conjunction with Gollan Racing.
Boom Racing Thoroughbreds purchased the Nicconi x Florestan’s Match filly as a weanling from the Magic Millions broodmare and weanling sale. We paid $32,500 for her back in May with the intention to sell as a yearling.
She subsequently went through the ring at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and failed to make her reserve of $50,000 which it cost to get her to the sale. She is a nice filly who we were not prepared to giveaway.
She is an outstanding moving filly with good bone but in a tough market any perceived shortcoming was marked harshly. Her half-brother, The Snooperstar is trained by Ron Quinton and is a youngster with good ability.
Nicconi continues to do the job at stud with Lankan Star a recent runner-up in the Group 1 Blue Diamond for 2-y-olds being his latest to hit the headlines. She looks a progressive type.
As you will see in the video she moves like a bomb. The filly will be prepared by Stuart Kendrick.
It was early on Day 1 that BRT Bloodstock and James Clarke Bloodstock struck. The filly was Lot 15 by Spirit of Boom and purchased from the draft of Eureka Stud for $25,000. The filly is out of the leading broodmare sire Lonhro. From only a small number to race as a broodmare sire Lonhro mares have produced Osborne Bulls, Morton’s Fork, Derryn, So Si Bon and Dark Universe amongst plenty others.
This filly is the full-sister to Spirit In The Sky who was purchased at last years sale for $140,000 by Trent Busuttin and Nat Young in Victoria. They have a very good opinion of that filly despite failing first up at Flemington. Her pedigree is from the famed Woodlands Stud families.
The filly will be trained by Tony Gollan and will commence the breaking-in process immediately before then embarking on a spell in the paddocks at Telemon Thoroughbreds. As you can see in the photo below there is plenty of Lonhro in this girl. This is the perfect syndication horse with the purchase price at an entry level, QTIS eligible and potential residual upon finishing on the track.
A PDS and new AFSL licence with TTSC are currently being prepared for this filly and will be available before the new racing season.
Absolutely stoked to secure this colt by the leading stallion in the country for $100,000. He has averaged $322,500 at this year’s sales and next year his service fee will be around $250,000.
His leading progeny include Group 1 winners Brazen Beau, Viddora, Hellbent, Voodoo Lad, Oohood and Media Sensation and alsoHoutzen, Fiesta and Invincibella amongst a plethora more.
He is a freak sire and to get the colt who is correct at this price was beyond belief.
This colt is retained to race by BRT Bloodstock, Aquis and Gollan Racing.
I have tracked this colt from 6 months ago. He is a stunning type visually and has been raised very well. In fact, Darryl Gollan had a part in raising this colt. His nephew has nurtured the colt in Central Queensland and he definitely hasn’t had the silver spoon in his mouth.
He has been ridden from a young age and been fed the very best of food. This explains the completely spotless x-ray report. As we know Spirit of Boom is taking all before him at stud and at the price this colt represented excellent value.
The cross has already proven to work with the talented Frangipani Moon out of a Conatus mare. This colt uses himself very well and has that look about him, not too dissimilar to Boomsara. The colt also has the 2 crosses which have worked the best with Spirit of Boom being the 4 over 3 Danehill and the Double of Semipalatinsk.
This Colt Lot 200 was purchased in partnership with young gun bloodstock agent James Clarke. James has worked at the biggest organisations in the thoroughbred world including Godolphin.
This colt is retained to race by BRT Bloodstock & Partners.
I laid my eyes on this colt at Oaklands Stud during on-farm inspections and boy he had us all turning our heads. He is an outstanding type by Smart Missile who is now flying at stud and with that has become very appealing to the Asian and Australian Markets. This horse was purchased with the mindset of being able to get him up around Christmas to chase the early QTIS money.
He was secured in partnership with Aquis Farm, Gollan Racing and John Foote Bloodstock. This is a family full of out and out speed and precociousness. He is the perfect horse to become a trade horse if he does get up and early.
This colt is retained to race by BRT Bloodstock, Aquis and Gollan Racing.
The photo beside does not do this colt justice, he is one great type
This filly was purchased by Henry Dwyer at the Melbourne Premier Sale. She was a yearling we put through the sales and BRT Bloodstock decided to stay in her upon the purchase by Henry Dwyer. She showed herself to be precocious early in her jumpouts and subsequently debuted at Group 3 level down the Flemington straight on Melbourne Cup day. She disappointed on the occasion and again at her second start and was immediately sent for a spell.
By the Sire who keeps producing high class stock, Hinchinbrook. Whilst the stallion is no longer with us his legacy lives on through his stock on the ground and those conceived in 2018. His progeny include the outstanding Press Statement, Seabrook and Asia’s gun sprinter Beat The Clock. The colt is out of the stakes placed mare Khepri who has produced 4-time Hong Kong winner Redwood Baby. She is also the Half-sister to Group 2 winner Kapsdan
